Editor’s Note: This is a ‘lift’ from Pierce County. Plant Sales are THE top revenue generator for many Counties and so, should be featured prominently on your site. The catch is that we often just do an “it’s coming!” approach which becomes stale as soon as the sale is over. At Pierce, we followed an “it’s coming” treatment with this “Thank you” page. You might want to consider a similar approach for your site.
The 2023 Plant Sale was a resounding success!
To all who braved the long check-out lines, please know that we appreciate your support. And we will do our best to speed those lines along in 2024. Thanks for your purchases and for your patience. The Plant Sale is our major funding event of the year and your participation made this year a huge success!
To all who came to the Puyallup Research and Extension Center… thank you!
We host the plant sale at our Washington State University Puyallup Research and Extension Center. We know it is a bit of a drive for many of you, but we believe it is worth it. To come out and see the vast array of green houses where research is conducted and to visit our demonstration garden just across the street….more than worth the trip. The plant sale is just an added bonus!
The Tomato Team Thanks you!
We sold through 3,500 tomato plants again this year. Our Master Gardeners grew more than 50 varieties of tomatoes in our Demonstration Garden greenhouse this year. Whether you were looking for slicers or beefsteak, cherry, currant or grape, or of course paste tomatoes… we had them. Guess we’re going to need to find some space to grow more next year!
The Propagation Team Thanks you!
Master Gardeners propagate all sorts of plants in a greenhouse on the Research and Extension Center campus. Trees, shrubs and flowers… we propagated them. And you bought them… all.
Thank you for your support!
Thanks to our partners, supporters and suppliers.
The annual plant sale is an Extension Master Gardener event, but we don’t do it alone: we have many partners who help to make the experience a memorable one for all who attend. Thanks to the Tacoma Tree Foundation, the Washington Native Plant Society, the Pierce County Conservation District and Harvest Pierce County, among others who pitched in to make this year’s event special.
But mostly, thanks to you
You purchased plants by the arm-load and by the cart-load and virtually ‘cleaned us out’ this year. Thank you! The monies generated by the plant sale are the largest Foundation funding event of the year. The proceeds generated by the sale are plowed back into the Pierce County Master Gardener Program and support many programs throughout the county. These monies support our Answer Clinics, Demonstration Gardens, Youth Gardening workshops, Speakers Bureau presentations, food for local food banks and much, much more. Thank you again for your generous support.
